Safe Haven

Traveling the vast and dreary path

Walking to escape the wrath

The wrath of those called to lead

Who used us for their own selfish greed

Walking endless days and nights

Following the sky’s twinkling lights

Trusting their guidance to lead us on

And safely bring the sweet, warm dawn

With feet cracked, bleeding, and sore

We run away from our country’s war

From the bombs that threatened blow up our lives

Sending rocks flying that bite us like knives

We will not cease in our perilous trek

Not ’til we’ve abandoned our old country’s wreck

So we will travel the nights, darker than raven

Until we find our beloved safe haven
